Rangers lose 1st to Jets, undefeated Canadiens keep Penguins winless

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets registered impressive road wins Tuesday night.

The Jets handed the New York Rangers their first loss of the season, thanks mostly to goaltender Michael Hutchinson, who stopped 40-of-41 shots, including all 20 he faced in the second period.

Nik Ehlers scored the first goal of his career - a beauty - while the ever-underappreciated Bryan Little scored his first two goals of the season.

Both teams are 3-1 after four games.

In Pittsburgh, the Montreal Canadiens scored a goal in each period to win their fourth in a row over the Penguins, who have lost three straight to open the season.

Max Pacioretty scored twice, giving him four goals in four games. This is the fourth 4-0 start for the Canadiens in club history - they won the Stanley Cup the other three times. Most impressively, the Habs won each of their games on the road. They'll host the Rangers on Thursday in their home opener.

The good news for the Penguins: Sidney Crosby had four shots on goal - his first four of the season.
