The Los Angeles Kings placed defenseman Jeff Schultz on waivers Sunday, according to Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com.

Schultz, 29, played over 18 minutes in the team's first game of the season against the San Jose Sharks, going pointless and logging a minus-1 rating.

If Schultz clears waivers he will be assigned to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

The veteran blue-liner has scored 11 goals and 76 points over 409 career games.
