Ondrej Pavelec will appear between the pipes in Winnipeg's season opener.

Pavelec will appear between the pipes in Thursday's season opener against the Bruins, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Analysis:

Pavelec has been with the team since 2007-08, when the team was based in Atlanta and called the Thrashers. He owns an average career GAA of 2.86 and .908 save percentage, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Pavelec was on a shorter leash this season after giving way to Michael Hutchinson often last year, leading to just 46 starts and 50 appearances, totals that don't scream "starting goaltender."
