Joe Pavelski was named captain by head coach Pete DeBoer on Monday

Pavelski was named captain by head coach Pete DeBoer on Monday, Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News reports.

Pavelski has been on the Sharks for his full 10-year career and is coming off another great season, leading the team with 70 points in 82 games. The Stevens Point, Wisc. native is the first American-born captain in Sharks history. He's joined by Logan Couture and Joe Thornton as assistants.
