Kevin Hayes to begin the season on second line wing

Analysis:

Perhaps the worst kept secret of training camp, Hayes will lineup with Chris Kreider and center Derek Stepan to start the season. The 23-year-old exceeded expectations in his rookie campaign, posting 17 goals and 28 assists mostly as a third line center. While there's some question about his defensive work and the promotion may not be permanent, for now, armed with top-six minutes, the sky's the limit for what was most likely a mid-to-late round pick in most draft formats.
