Lecavalier, Gagner, Luke Schenn expected to be scratched for Flyers' opener

The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to have more than $11 million sitting in the press box opening night.

Forwards Vincent Lecavalier and Sam Gagner, along with defenseman Luke Schenn, are expected to be scratched for Thursday's home opener versus the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The trio - who will take up a healthy $11.3 million on the salary cap this season - were the odd-men out in practice Monday afternoon, reports CSN's Tim Panaccio.

"I really don't know what to say," Lecavalier said after the skate, "I'll practice hard and be ready when they call me up."

New head coach Dave Hakstol promised a clean slate when he took over for Craig Berube, but apparently neither Lecavalier nor Schenn were able to take advantage of the fresh start. Gagner, meanwhile, was sprinkled throughout the lineup during the preseason in an effort to uncover some chemistry, but was unable to find a connection among Flyers' forwards, according to Panaccio.
