Former Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta will have to wait a while before making his season debut for the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Kaleta aggravated an undisclosed nagging injury three shifts into the Sabres' 6-2 preseason loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, and doesn't expect to be able to play for at least four weeks.

"It will be probably be in the range of a month plus," Kaleta told Kevin Oklobzija of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on Saturday.

The veteran pugilist dealt with injuries throughout Sabres training camp, sustaining one on the second day of practice before suffering Thursday's setback, according to Oklobzija.

Kaleta was released from his tryout with the Sabres on Friday. He reported to the Americans one day later.

The 29-year-old agitator signed a one-year AHL deal when he inked his PTO with Buffalo last month.

Kaleta has spent his entire nine-year career in the Sabres organization after being chosen as a sixth-round pick by Buffalo in 2004.
