Martin Jones' stellar start to the season is officially one for the record books, and the San Jose Sharks are still unbeaten.

Jones stopped 31 of 32 shots and Brent Burns scored the shootout winner as the Sharks defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-1 to win their fourth consecutive game.

The goaltender held New Jersey scoreless for the first 45 seconds of Friday night's game, and in doing so, broke Alex Stalock's franchise record shutout streak.

Stalock kept opponents off the scoresheet for 178:55 in January 2014.

Devils forward Adam Henrique scored to end Jones' streak with 3:38 remaining in the third period.

San Jose also set a new team shutout record less than 13 minutes into the first period.

Jones held the Los Angeles Kings to one goal in a season-opening win, then shut out the Anaheim Ducks and Washington Capitals.

He was acquired by the Sharks in June for a 2016 first-round pick and prospect Sean Kuraly.

San Jose forward Patrick Marleau opened the scoring Friday night with his third goal of the season early in the first period.

The Devils are still winless, falling to 0-3-1.
