The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Brandon Carlo to an entry-level contract, general manager Don Sweeney announced Friday.
The 18-year-old is attending his first NHL training camp after being drafted 37th overall by the Bruins this year.
Considered a long shot to make the team out of camp, Carlo may get a longer look as a result of injuries suffered by Dennis Seidenberg and Zdeno Chara.
He recorded a goal in preseason action against the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Carlo has appeared 134 games for the WHL's Tri-City Americans, tallying seven goals, 31 assists, and 156 penalty minutes.
