Devils' Clowe to hang up skates on doctor's orders
Ryane Clowe's career appears to be over.
New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero told The Record's Tom Gulitti that the 32-year-old will be unable to play hockey now or in the future.
The decision comes after Clowe received a doctor's recommendation that he not play again. A series of concussions limited the forward to just 13 games last season.
Clowe says he feels fine now. "I would have loved to play again", but doctors reccommend against it.

Clowe has three years and $14.55 million remaining on the five-year, $24.25-million contract he signed in July 2013. Shero said that for cap purposes, New Jersey will either keep Clowe on the injured reserve list or transfer him to long-term injured reserve for the remainder of his deal.

Last month, former Devils GM Lou Lamoriello told reporters that Clowe's chances of returning to the game were slim.
Clowe finishes his career with 112 goals and 309 points in 491 career regular-season games with the San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers, and the Devils. He was the Sharks' sixth-round pick in 2001.
