Karri Ramo on Flames' crowded crease: 'I'm sure the guys upstairs have their plan'

Karri Ramo isn't guaranteed to begin the new season as the Calgary Flames' starting goalie, despite finishing the previous campaign in that spot.

After 34 regular-season appearances, Ramo was called into action during the team's second-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks in relief of Jonas Hiller. Months later, the Flames will bring three goalies to camp on one-way deals, with Joni Ortio rounding out the trio.

Still, Ramo isn't concerned about how the playing time will shake out.

"I'm sure the guys upstairs have their plan," Ramo told Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald. "I'm sure there's a plan what they're going to do and I don't think at the end of the day, it's going to be that hard of a decision for them.

"I'm sure when they signed me, even when the season ended, they saw how things were going to play out."

The 29-year-old signed a one-year, $3.8-million contract with the club during the offseason, and the crowded crease obviously didn't serve as a deterrent.

"Everything is good here," said the 29-year-old. "I don't know why to not sign here again. We talked at the end of last year that when you get a certain age, it's not fun to change things around anymore without a good reason. I didn't feel it was a good enough reason not to sign here."

Ramo has appeared in 122 games since being drafted in the sixth round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004, boasting a career record of 43-45-17 and a save percentage of .905.
