A trio of Swedish hockey stars will try to help build a winning team for the 2016 World Cup.

Former NHL stars Mats Sundin, Nicklas Lidstrom, and Daniel Alfredsson will form a team of advisors in preparation for the tournament, the Swedish Hockey Federation announced Tuesday.

All three were members of the team that won gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Sweden, however, has failed to earn a medal at the last two World Cups.

Sweden will also have a new head coach for the event, as Rikard Gronborg - who served as head coach of the junior team for the past two years and as an assistant at the 2014 Olympics - takes over the post.

Sweden advanced to the gold medal game at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, falling to Canada in the climactic match.
