After last season marked a 20-point improvement from the 2013-14 season, the Calgary Flames are hopeful the best years are still to come.

The Flames put together their best regular season record since 2008-09, making the postseason for the first time since that same campaign. With that in mind, general manager Brad Treliving wants to see his players, young and old, continue to step up.

"It was nice what we accomplished last year," Treliving told NHL.com's Aaron Vickers. "We prefer to look through the windshield and not the rearview mirror. What's in front of us is a great challenge, but I think our guys embraced it in making sure they're prepared for that. We need our young players, but we need our veteran players to continue to take steps forward for us to have success."

Treliving was busy this offseason, pulling off the trade for defenseman Dougie Hamilton as well as inking versatile forward Michael Frolik, reiterating that the club has its eye on future success.
