Mike Babcock: Red Wings' Holland a 'superstar'; 'best general manager in hockey'

Mike Babcock is no longer a member of the Detroit Red Wings organization, but the new Toronto Maple Leafs coach is still impressed with the way they conduct themselves, and thinks the world of general manager Ken Holland.

Babcock spoke to the media on day two of the Maple Leafs development camp and was asked why he thought the Red Wings develop players with such astounding success.

While he cited good scouting and a great owner, the coach mentioned Holland as a major factor in Detroit's success.

He called his former GM the "best general manager in hockey" before labeling him as a "superstar," writes NHL.com's Chris Lund.

Babcock spent ten years with the Red Wings from 2005-15 before leaving for an eight-year contract worth $50 million in Toronto.
