Report: Flyers have opened contract talks with Voracek

Jakub Voracek is setting his sights on becoming a rich man.

The Philadelphia Flyers have opened contract talks with their star forward, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer's Sam Carchidi.

Voracek, 25, tied for fourth in the league in points last season with 81. He has one year left on a four-year, $17-million contract he signed in 2012, and Carchidi expects his compensation will rise from that $4.25-million cap hit to at least $7 million per season.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said in June that extending Voracek was a priority, so it's likely that Voracek will get a raise, especially if Philadelphia can rid itself of Vincent Lecavalier and the remainder of his nagging five-year, $22.5-million contract.
