Bruins sign Brett Connolly to 1-year, $1.025-million contract

The Boston Bruins have agreed to a one-year, $1.025-million contract with forward Brett Connolly, the team announced Monday.

Connolly suffered a fractured hand in just his second practice with the Bruins after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning at the trade deadline last season for a pair of second-round picks. He returned for the final five games of the schedule, and chipped in two assists.

The former sixth overall selection, who has been hampered by injury in parts of four NHL seasons, topped out at a career-best 17 points last year.

Boston also announced the signing of Jimmy Hayes and a two-way agreement with farmhand Brandon DeFazio.
