The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Shawn Matthias to a one-year contract.

Matthias, 27, spent the 2014-15 season with the Vancouver Canucks, scoring a career-high 18 goals and adding nine assists in 78 games.

The former second-round pick from the 2006 draft also added two points in six postseason contests.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed by the team, but Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports that Matthias will receive $2.3 million.
