Michael Del Zotto is reportedly electing to pursue the arbitration route in the midst of his negotiations with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The defenseman filed for salary arbitration Friday, reports TSN's Frank Seravalli, and Del Zotto's camp is expected to continue talks with the Flyers over the weekend.

Del Zotto's agent, Mark Guy, told the Courier-Post's Dave Isaac that discussions with the Flyers remain amicable and ongoing.

The 25-year-old blue-liner is a pending restricted free agent who carried a cap hit of $1.3 million in 2014-15.

He scored 10 goals and added 22 assists, his best offensive output since racking up 41 points with the New York Rangers in 2011-12.

Del Zotto and the Flyers have been negotiating since May. The deadline for players to file for salary arbitration is Sunday at 5 p.m. ET.
