The next biggest fish has landed in the shark tank.

The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Joel Ward to a three-year contract, the team announced Friday.

The deal will pay Ward an average of $3.275 million per season according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.

The 34-year-old spent the last four seasons with the Washington Capitals. Ward should add some scoring depth to the Sharks, who finished 15th last season with 2.73 goals per game.

He should also prove to be a valuable part to the team's postseason run, should they get back there. Ward has 14 goals and 35 points in 53 career playoff games.

He tallied 19 goals and 34 points in 82 games this past season.
