Kimmo Timonen plans to look into job with Flyers during offseason

Kimmo Timonen is already planning for the future.

The veteran defenseman, making his last stand in the Stanley Cup Final as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, plans on contacting Philadelphia Flyers general manager Ron Hextall this summer in hopes of taking on a job with his old club, according to Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Timonen will likely look to join the front office in some capacity, as he's not looking to serve as a coach next season.

The 40-year-old has failed to record a point in 31 games (regular season and playoffs) with the Blackhawks, and sat out the final two games of the conference final series with the Anaheim Ducks after skating under 10 minutes per game in the postseason to date.

A veteran of 1,108 regular season games - including eight years with the Flyers - Timonen sat out most of the season due to blood clots and had already announced that this season would be his last.

All that's left to be determined is whether he'll get to play in the Final, and if he'll end his career with a Stanley Cup.
