Canada and the United States will reportedly be in the same group at the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.

The two nations will be grouped with the Czech Republic and the European all-star team, Ice Hockey Federation of Russia president Vladislav Tretiak told Sovsport.ru.

Russia would join Sweden, Finland and the North American under-23 team in the other group.

The tournament will take place at Toronto's Air Canada Centre beginning in September 2016.

All eight teams will play one game against each group opponent with the top two in each group advancing to the semifinals.

The championship final will be a best-of-three series.
