Blackhawks' van Riemsdyk will participate in morning skate; could play Game 6

Losing the battle of attrition, the Chicago Blackhawks could insert a blue-liner for Game 6 unimpeded by the cumulative abuse being dolled out by the Anaheim Ducks.

Trevor van Riemsdyk, whose impressive rookie season has been curtailed by two major injuries, will take the morning skate, and could potentially replace Kimmo Timonen or Kyle Cumiskey in Wednesday's do-or-die, according to an NHL.com report by Brian Hedger.

He hasn't featured for Chicago since breaking his leg on Nov. 16. Several months later, he required surgery after damaging his wrist with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford.

Van Riemsdyk boasted strong shot-based possession stats in his 18 regular-season games, also contributing one assist.
