Blackhawks' Quenneville on Game 5 loss: 'We didn't start on time'

The Chicago Blackhawks lost in overtime after falling behind 3-0 in the first period of Monday's Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Blackhawks never led in the contest and their efforts to rally and force overtime weren't enough to overcome their slow start. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville took his team to task over their lackluster first-period performance, when they didn't record a shot on goal until they were down by three.

"We didn't start on time for the first time this series," Quenneville told reporters after the game.

Chicago outshot the Ducks 25-13 for the remainder of regulation, scoring twice in the second period and twice in the third to forge a 4-4 tie before Matt Beleskey ended the game 45 seconds into overtime. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews led the charge to overtime with two late goals, demonstrating the resilience that is beginning to define Chicago's playoff run.

Toews is looking forward to Game 6 on Wednesday at Chicago, where he expects to leave everything on the ice.
