Report: Leafs, Sabres in Babcock bidding war; Blues out, Red Wings still in mix

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

It's coming down to the last minute.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres are making their final pitches to land coach Mike Babcock in what's turned into a bidding war, reported TSN's Darren Dreger.

After it was reported earlier in the week that the Maple Leafs were no longer on the list of possible destinations, the team looks to be making a last-minute push.

Dreger also reported that the Red Wings are doing their best to retain their head coach of 10 years, offering a final bid at five years for $4 million per season.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the St. Louis Blues are out of the mix for Babcock's services.

Babcock is expected to make his decision Wednesday.
