Andrew Hammond: Extended Three Years by Senators

Hammond signed a three-year, $4.05 million extension with the Senators on Wednesday.

Analysis:

Hammond's second-half star turn was one of the best stories of the 2014-15 season, as he emerged from obscurity to go 20-1-2 with a 1.79 GAA and .941 save percentage over 24 appearances while leading the Senators to the postseason in the process. His improbable run came to an end in the first-round matchup with the Canadiens when Craig Anderson ultimately took back the goal, but it looks like the Senators have faith the 27-year-old can at least remain a serviceable backup. With Hammond and Anderson under contract for the next three seasons and prized Boston University goalie Matt O'Connor joining the organization a couple weeks ago, the Senators will probably attempt to trade away Robin Lehner (concussion) over the summer.
