Blue Jackets to reveal captain at season-ticket holders event Wednesday

Russell LaBounty / USA TODAY Sports

The Columbus Blue Jackets will unveil their sixth captain in franchise history Wednesday, and the night is shaping up to be a party.

Season-ticket holders were sent an email encouraging them to come out to Nationwide Arena to enjoy appetizers, beverages and be the first to lay eyes on the "C" once again stitched onto a Blue Jacket sweater.

Columbus has been without a lead voice in the locker room and on the ice for the last three seasons, choosing not to select a captain after dealing Rick Nash to the New York Rangers.

Nick Foligno is believed to be the odds-on favorite to inherit the role, but those looking to make the night a little more interesting might find value in the leadership qualities Scott Hartnell and Brandon Dubinsky possess.

The information was first spotted on Reddit and has since been confirmed by Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.
