Brodie revealed Tuesday that he played through a "severely sprained ankle" during the postseason, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.

Analysis:

Brodie said he suffered the injury in a regular-season game back on March 5 against the Bruins, which might explain the blueliner's downturn in performance down the stretch. The 24-year-old was limited to just two goals and eight assists over his final 28 games, after averaging over a half-point-per-game prior to the Boston match. The injury still wasn't enough to prevent Brodie from setting career-best marks across the board, and should put him on track to be available for the start of training camp next fall. If health permits in 2015-16, it's conceivable that Brodie could challenge for 45 or even 50 points.
