The Boston Bruins may have another candidate for their backup goalie position.

University of North Dakota goalie Zane McIntyre, drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Draft, is expected to make the jump to the NHL. While he's eligible to become a free agent, he wants to sign with Boston, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

McIntyre, 22, appeared in 42 games for UND in 2014-15, recording a save percentage of .929. He led the team to a Frozen Four appearance and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in the NCAA, won by Jack Eichel.

The Bruins are in the market for a full-time backup in light of Niklas Svedberg's decision to leave for the greener pastures of the KHL. Both Malcolm Subban and Jeremy Smith are also in the mix for the gig.
