Help is on the way.
Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has been practicing with the Chicago Blackhawks, and appears close to returning to game action.
He won't, however, be ready for Game 1 as he continues to get up to speed following a wrist injury, head coach Joel Quenneville indicated Wednesday.
Kyle Cumiskey and David Rundblad, therefore, will continue to occupy the five and six spots on the defensive depth chart for the time being.
In 18 career NHL games, van Riemsdyk has recorded one assist. If he does appear in the Final, it will mark his playoff debut.
