John Gibson will travel with Ducks to Calgary

Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA TODAY Sports

The Anaheim Ducks, who are already looking like a Stanley Cup contender, could get even better as their second-round playoff series with the Calgary Flames continues.

John Gibson, who backed up Frederik Andersen in net during the regular season, worked out during the team's optional skate Friday and will make the trip with the team to Calgary.

The goaltender has been battling the flu and has yet to appear in the postseason.

Jason LaBarbera, who has been Andersen's backup through the playoffs thus far, will also make the trip.

Gibson played in 23 regular-season games, posting a record of 13-8-0 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage.
