Trevor Lewis helped the United States avoid an upset at the hands of Norway in a 2-1 victory on the second day of the 2015 IIHF World Championship on Saturday.

Lewis recorded a goal and an assist as the U.S. recovered from allowing the game's first goal to improve to 2-0 in the Preliminary Round. Brock Nelson also scored, while Morten Ask opened the scoring for Norway.

Ask scored 6:39 into the contest, stunning the U.S. in a period where Norway held a 13-10 shot advantage. Lewis knotted the score at 1-1 six minutes later and Nelson gave the U.S. the lead 5:58 into the second period.

"They jumped on us early," Jack Eichel told reporters after the game. "We knew it would be a tight checking game. It was a little more physical and chippy. They had some guys with some big open ice hits. It was a defensive battle."

Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves for the U.S., while Norwegian netminder Lars Haugen stopped 33 shots.
