Nielsen played through a high-ankle sprain during the latter portion of the season, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Analysis:

Nielsen initially suffered the injury in February, then played through the issue until he aggravated it again in early April. While he didn't miss any significant time because of the sprain and suited up for all seven of the Isles' postseason games, he's still bothered by the injury and will be unable to play for Denmark during May's IIHF World Championships as a result. A few weeks of rest should be all he needs to get ready for training camp.
