Islanders' Halak looking to remain great in elimination games vs. Capitals

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

It is winner take all tonight between the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals and already the deciding factor looks to be Jaroslav Halak.

Monday will mark the fifth time in Halak's career that the Islanders goaltender faces the Capitals in an elimination game, and if history repeats itself, the Capitals could be in trouble.

Halak is 4-0 in elimination games against the Capitals in his career, dating back to 2010. The 29-year-old has allowed just one goal in each of those games, stopping 169 of the 173 shots he has faced, good enough for a .977 save percentage.

He is rocking a .926 save percentage and a 2.34 goals-against average this postseason. So if the Capitals want to punch their ticket to round two, they will need to find a way to solve this Cap-killer.
