Steven Stamkos after Game 5 shutout loss: 'Nothing is going right, right now'

Paging Steven Stamkos.

The Tampa Bay Lightning superstar's scoreless streak continued during Saturday's Game 5 shutout loss to the Detroit Red Wings, extending to six games (including the regular season) and eight playoff games dating back to last year.

"Nothing is going right, right now," Stamkos told reporters after the loss. "As long as I continue to compete, hopefully (things) change. It (stinks) to be going through something like this at this time of year when your team needs you. Hopefully I can come through."

Stamkos sits in a tie for the team lead in shots (17) with Tyler Johnson through five games, and Detroit is focusing its defensive efforts on the two forwards. While Johnson has broken through with four goals, Stamkos hasn't been so lucky, but head coach Jon Cooper isn't prepared to pin the team's struggles on one player.

"You can't sit here and throw it all on Stammer," Cooper said. "We've gone eight of nine periods without scoring. Stammer doesn't play the whole game ... So it's not on him. It's on all of us."

Tampa Bay's offense has been stymied by Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek, who's recorded a save percentage of .937 with two shutouts in the series.

Saturday's 4-0 loss put the Lightning on the brink of elimination, and the club is now facing a first-round exit for the second straight season.
