Red Wings' Mrazek sets franchise mark with 2nd shutout of the playoffs

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Red Wings are now just one win away from the second round thanks to a brilliant display by Petr Mrazek on Saturday.

The Red Wings goaltender recorded his second shutout of the postseason in a 4-0 victory, giving his team a 3-2 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning. His second goose egg of the series also set a franchise mark.

Mrazek became the first rookie netminder in Red Wings history to record two shutouts in the same series that he made his playoff debut in, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

The 23-year-old is also just one of five goaltenders in NHL history to record two shutouts in the same series they made their playoff debuts in.

Detroit can punch their ticket to the next round with a win back home on Monday.
