Islanders without de Haan, Reinhart for elimination Game 6 vs. Capitals

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

The blue line is wearing thin on Long Island.

The New York Islanders will be without injured defenseman Calvin de Haan and will sit Griffin Reinhart for Saturday's elimination Game 6 versus the Washington Capitals.

Their inability to contribute compounds a pre-existing problem, with regulars Travis Hamonic and Lubomir Visnovsky already missing from the lineup with injuries.

Matt Donovan and Scott Mayfield will to draw in, meaning remaining rearguards Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy will have to be exceptional with their extra ice time to prolong the Islanders' season and have Nassau Coliseum live to potentially see another day.
