Ducks complete sweep of Jets, advance to 2nd round

Bruce Fedyck / USA Today

Ryan Kesler scored twice while Sami Vatanen, Emerson Etem and Andrew Cogliano added goals for the Anaheim Ducks, who won 5-2 in Game 4 on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the playoffs with a sweep of the Winnipeg Jets.

Star Performer: Kesler's two third-period goals were the difference for the Ducks. He also fired a game-high five shots in his best performance of the series.

Turning Point: The raucous Winnipeg crowd came back to life after Mark Stuart scored, cutting the deficit to one midway through the third period, but Kesler silenced them again when he scored his second at 15:11.

Goalie Comparison: Frederik Andersen was solid for Anaheim, making key saves to preserve the two-goal lead in the third period. Ondrej Pavelec struggled to control the rebound on the game's winning goal and generally wasn't as good as Andersen in the contest.

Goalie Shots GA Saves SV%
Andersen 27 2 25 .926
Pavelec 34 4 30 .882

Top Highlight: Etem absolutely embarrassed Jacob Trouba on the game's first goal, dragging the puck around the Jets defenseman before scoring with a backhand.

Stat of the Night: The Jets are the only franchise to lose all of their first eight playoff games. The franchise was also swept when it qualified for the postseason as the Atlanta Thrashers in 2007.
