Ducks push Jets to brink in 1st playoff game in Winnipeg since 1996

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

Rickard Rakell redirected Francois Beauchemin's point shot through Ondrej Pavelec 5:12 into overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 5-4 victory and a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Winnipeg Jets.

Anaheim's overtime victory in Monday's Game 3 spoiled the mood at the first NHL playoff game in Winnipeg since 1996. Jets fans showed up wearing mostly white for the traditional whiteout and made their presence felt throughout the contest.

Star Performer: Jakob Silfverberg built on his winning goal in Game 2 by contributing a game-high three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in the Ducks' comeback win.

Turning Point: Ryan Kesler tied the game late in the third period and Winnipeg was unable to regain the lead on a power play that carried into overtime. Anaheim appeared firmly in control after a couple minutes of the extra period, leading to Rakell's tally.

Goalie Comparison: Neither goaltender produced an impressive stat line, but both made important saves at key moments. Ducks netminder Frederik Andersen simply made more of them.

Goalie Shots GA Saves SV%
Andersen 35 4 31 .886
Pavelec 31 5 26 .839

Top Highlight: Andersen kept Anaheim alive with an amazing glove save during Winnipeg's power play late in regulation. He reached out to rob Bryan Little and preserve the tie, stunning the raucous MTS Centre crowd in the process.

Stat of the Night: The Ducks have won all three games in this series despite trailing after two periods in every contest. Anaheim finished the regular season with a league-best 12-23-0 record when trailing through 40 minutes.
