Sam Bennett has earned his stripes.

The Calgary Flames forward, who played in his first NHL playoff game - and just his second game in the show period - Wednesday, didn't look phased by the atmosphere of being in the postseason.

The 18-year-old spoke with Sportsnet's Mark Sector about his playoff debut and explained how he felt during the surreal moment.

“It was everything that I dreamed it could be. It was so much fun out there, so fast. To get the win in our first playoff game? It felt amazing,” said the prospect who was drafted fourth overall in 2014.

“Nothing compares to this,” he said. “It’s so much faster so much more exciting. Just everything about it was everything I imagined it would be.”

The youngster had plenty of fuel to burn in the game, earning an assist on Kris Russell's game-winner, as he's missed most of the season after going through shoulder surgery.

He'll be in the lineup again when the Vancouver Canucks host the Flames in Game 2 on Friday.
