Bishop, Lightning rebound to breeze by Red Wings in Game 2
The Tampa Bay Lightning were the better team again in Game 2 but this time the score was indicative.
Tyler Johnson scored twice and Ben Bishop followed up a woeful Game 1 performance with 23 saves as the Lightning evened their first-round series with the Detroit Red Wings, winning 5-1.
Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek was unable to duplicate his extraordinary performance in Game 1, conceding four goals before Jimmy Howard took the crease to start the third.
Star Performer: Johnson provided the Lightning with the breakthrough three minutes into the contest, whipping a rebound off the post by a sliding Mrazek. He was fired out of a cannon through the neutral zone on his second, before beating Mrazek again blocker-side.
Turning Point: Johnson's first. The Lightning would have gripped their sticks a bit tight, should Mrazek have come up with a few saves early. Johnson didn't let it get to that point.
Goalie Comparison: Bishop earned his first playoff win in his second start, outplaying both Howard and Mrazek, who combined for 25 saves.
Goalie | Shots | GA | Saves | SV% |
---|---|---|---|---|

Howard | 12 | 1 | 11 | 0.917 |
Bishop | 24 | 1 | 23 | 0.958 |
Top Highlight: Here's Johnson being launched out of said cannon.
Stat of the Night: 6. The Lightning just narrowly edged the Wings in shots and were actually out-CORSI'd after authoring a 32-shot advantage in Game 1.
