General manager Lou Lamoriello acknowledged Monday that Clowe (concussion) is unlikely to play again, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. "All indications are it's going to be very difficult for him to play the game again," Lamoriello said.

Analysis:

Clowe was diagnosed with his fourth concussion in a year and a half when he took a hit to the head Nov. 6 against the Blues, costing him the remainder of the season. The 32-year-old hasn't resumed skating while he continues to await medical clearance that will probably never come. He still has three years remaining on the five-year, $24.25 million contract he inked with the Devils in the summer of 2013.
