The New York Islanders clinched a playoff spot with the Florida Panthers' 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

The Islanders were idle Thursday, but could've clinched a spot if either the Ottawa Senators or Bruins lost in any fashion. The Senators defeated the New York Rangers 3-0, so it came down to the Bruins.

This marks the Islanders' second playoff appearance in the last three years. The team finishes off the regular season with games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets
