NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Arizona

Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrej Meszaros scored twice as the Buffalo Sabres grabbed a 4-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.

Brian Gionta and Rasmus Ristolainen added empty-net goals and Anders Lindback turned away 28 shots for the Sabres, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

"It started with forechecking," said Lindback. "We were on the right side of the puck all night."

Connor Murphy had the only goal of the game for the Coyotes, who had a two- game winning streak broken. Mike Smith turned aside 32-of-34 shots.

"We left Smith out to dry a few times there," said Murphy. "We got the result for how we played. We weren't winning battles and getting to the puck first, at all."

Arizona scored the only goal of the first period when Murphy blasted a shot in from the right point at 1:17.

Buffalo, though, tied the game on the power play at 4:27 off a left circle faceoff win that saw Meszaros blast in a one-timer from the high slot.

It was Meszaros again at 13:36 when his big one-timer from the left point found its way in for his seventh of the season.

Arizona threw 11 shots on net in the third, but was unable to tie the game and Gionta and Ristolainen scored empty-net goals just over a minute apart late in the game.
