VIDEO: Flames' Diaz outwaits Lehtonen, Stars to score on wraparound

Kim Klement / USA Today

Raphael Diaz is used to waiting a long time between goals.

The Calgary Flames defenseman entered Monday's contest against the Dallas Stars with no points since his last tally on Feb. 2, which is probably why he didn't mind outwaiting the entire Stars team to score a wraparound goal in the second period.

Diaz collected the puck at the point and used the open ice in front of him to penetrate deep into Dallas' zone and force the Stars to collapse on defense. Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen went down anticipating a shot at the near side of the net, but Diaz carried the puck around the net and deposited it on the other side to give Calgary the lead.

Calgary leads 4-2 after two periods.
