Coyotes' Boedker skates for 1st time since spleen surgery

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

Arizona Coyotes forward Mikkel Boedker was back on the ice Monday, a little more than two months after undergoing surgery on a ruptured spleen.

Boedker skated for only 15 minutes, but it was a big step in his physical, as well as emotional, recovery.

"I think that's one thing that will keep his sanity," head coach Dave Tippett told reporters after the skate.

Boedker was on pace for a career year before his season-ending injury suffered Jan. 18. He scored an even 14 goals and 28 points in 45 games.
