The battle for the NCAA Division I crown continued Sunday with two games on the schedule as Providence and Omaha joined Boston University and North Dakota in the Frozen Four.

Providence 4, Denver 1

Three assists by Jake Walman propelled Providence past Denver for the Friars' first Frozen Four appearance in 30 years.

Noel Acciari opened the scoring for Providence before Tom Parisi, Brandon Tanev and Kevin Rooney tallied in the third period. Jon Gillies made 23 saves

Joey LaLeggia had the lone reply for Denver, which has not earned a Final Four berth since 2005.

Providence is the second Hockey East team in the Frozen Four, joining Boston University.

Omaha 4, RIT 0

Ryan Massa made 40 saves as Omaha blanked RIT to advance to the first Frozen Four in school history.

Jake Randolph, Austin Ortega, Justin Parizek and David Pope scored in the third period to give Massa more than enough offensive support after 40 minutes of scoreless hockey.

RIT was coming off an upset victory over top-seeded Minnesota State Mankato but could not find a way past Massa despite firing 10 shots in the first period, 12 in the second and 18 in the third.

Omaha is the second NCHC team in the Frozen Four, joining North Dakota. The Mavericks will face Providence in the national semifinals in Boston on April 9.
