Jets' Perreault returns Sunday vs. Blackhawks after 16-game absence

The Winnipeg Jets are getting a boost down the middle for the final seven games of the regular season.

Center Mathieu Perreault - out since Feb. 16 with a lower-body injury - will be in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks after missing the team's past 16 contests.

Perreault had been playing at a high level prior to the injury, recording nine goals and eight assists in 19 games in 2015. He expects it will take a game or two to get back to where he wants to be with his game.

"I don't expect to come back and play 20 minutes - and I don't think my body could take it, anyway," Perreault said Saturday. "It's about getting some minutes and getting back into game shape. ... I've been working out and skating hard, so it's not like I'm too far off. It's going to take maybe two or three games and I'll be right back to where I was."

Entering Sunday's game, the Jets hold the second wild card spot in the Western Conference and sit four points behind Chicago.
