Panthers' Pirri scores a pair, continues to build oddest stat line

Tom Szczerbowski / USA TODAY Sports

Brandon Pirri is putting himself in line to win the Cy Young Award.

The young Florida Panthers forward is in the midst of a torrid run, hitting 20 goals in 41 games with a pair during Thursday's win over Toronto.

Not only is he one of the hottest shooters in the NHL, his goals to assists ratio (20 to two) is the most unbalanced since Cy Denneny scored 22 and added one helper for the Ottawa Senators back in 1923-24.

While his stat line is entertaining, his production on a team scraping to stay in the playoff race isn't lost on his teammates.

Pirri has been especially hot as of late, scoring 11 goals in 13 games since returning from a shoulder injury in late February.
