New York Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi required stitches after suffering a deep cut on his right arm in Thursday's win over the Ottawa Senators.

Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault said after the game that Girardi suffered a gash on his arm.

The photo evidence would appear to confirm that diagnosis.

Girardi is second on the team in time-on-ice. He was averaging 22:54 entering Thursday's game.

The veteran blue-liner has 18 points in 73 games.
