Kronwall returns to Red Wings lineup, Datsyuk still out

Raj Mehta / USA Today

The Detroit Red Wings look to have a playoff spot locked up, but they're still playing for position in the Eastern Conference, hoping to earn home ice advantage.

Their chances will improve slightly Thursday as top defenseman Niklas Kronwall returns to the lineup.

The 34-year-old heir apparent to the legendary Nicklas Lidstrom has been dealing with a lower-body injury and hasn't played in a game since Mar. 22.

Superstar forward Pavel Datsyuk, who's day-to-day with a lower-body injury, will not play against the visiting San Jose Sharks.

Kronwall has eight goals and 32 assists in 71 games, while Datsyuk has 58 points in 57 games.
